This is indeed great achivement ; even the solver of this challange is
significant. This platform could be used for development of low cost
medicines for developing countries.

Yvonne,

More efficient, methods of manufacturing the drug will not directly improve compliance. I don’t believe Dr. Kaneko implied a direct connection. It is improved, shorter treatment regimens that should improve compliance, by making it less burdensome for patients to complete treatments.

The TB Alliance is committed to developing improved TB drugs, and ultimately improved TB treatment regimens. The organization is also committed to ensuring that any projects it develops will be affordable, adopted, and available to those who need them. Improved manufacturing processes theoretically represent benefits/savings that can be passed on to patients in the future.

In the big picture, there is a syllogistic connection between improved manufacturing processes and increased rates of compliance.

Improved treatment regimens only translate to improved treatment outcomes (improved rates of compliance) if they are affordable, adopted, and available. Affordability, adoption, and availability are prerequisites to a superior treatment actually being able to deliver its benefits, “on the ground.” By improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process one can reduce barriers to affordability, adoption, and availability,

So, theoretically, there is a connection, but there are many other factors and steps in between.

Although I understand the need for manufacturing these kinds of drugs in a more cost efficient manner, I do not understanda how this will improve compliance. Can someone explain this to me?
thanks
