I too had an "aha" moment while working in Somalia (1983) similar to yours, Mine was working with bringing refuges out of the camps. We began a customer based donkey cart program which was effective because instead of the recipient being that of charity the person in need became a customer of equal footing. This was the beginning of International Development Enterprises IDEORG.ORG, which has now 25 years later, brought over 20 million out of poverty with the same ideal. Best of luck in your ventures. I have a basic understanding of photo-voltaics as well.
