		<description>Attn: Sir,

I saw your information from philanthropy and very happy about your efforts toward solving the world economic downturn. My organization is also a partner in this good gesture, but due to the financial situation of my country, we have not been measuring up. With this, I tell you a little about our organization and the need for seeking for the grants.

Emma Ekwonna Youth Empowerment Foundation (aka EEYEF), is NOT A POLITICAL PARTY OR POLITICAL ORGANIZATION/MOVEMENT. It is a non- governmental and self help organization which was founded by Mr. Emmanuel Chukwunomnso Ekwonna , a novelist and a poet.
EEYEF was formally established in Owerri, the capital of Imo State in 2007 with its temporary address, thus: HOUSE 1A, ROAD 13, FEDERAL HOUSING ESTATE, UMUGUMA, NEW OWERRI, IMO STATE, NIGERIA, WEST AFRICA.

The purpose of the establishment of this humanitarian organization is to help the teaming Youths of our country Nigeria who have no good means of livelihood, to give them hope in life which will make them to shun all manners of evil practices like violence, tuggery, touting, prostitution, kidnapping and other fraudulent activities. There has been the normal slogan in Nigeria that there is no work. I Emma Ekwonna, a self made young man and the founder/ coordinator of EEYEF understands it as a fallaciously but real statement.

What do I mean by this?
It is fallacious and untrue in the sense that, since it has been the normal slogan, a lot of people both graduates and non graduates are lackadaisical to look for job or engage in any meaningful employment. This has made them to loose focus in life. A lot of the youths engage in illegal activities like violence, tuggery, touting, prostitution, kidnapping and other fraudulent activities, in the quest for easy wealth. But if these youths could be educated (formal or informal) and made to understand that they can be useful even when there is no work in the country, they can create employment for the younger ones, they will realize that there is work. Let us remove that belief and march forward.

Secondly, why the statement is real is because, the past administrations have so made the whole nation to believe that if you don’t have money, you don’t have voice in the society. A lot of government workers who should retire will not and not create opportunity the younger ones to be employed. This has made both graduates and non graduate youths to believe that work is for special people.

Our Activities
We will go out to identify the youths who actually are interested to learn one career job or another to enable them have a meaningful livelihood. We will do this through the help of the media (Radio/ TV announcements and News papers), churches and religious bodies, Local Governments, Village heads and traditional rulers, Seminars and workshops. We will make forms available and call for people to come and collect forms free of charge. In the form, we will list a number of career jobs available and the candidate will mark the one he or she is interested in learning. EEYEF will take that particular candidate to the place where he or she can stay to learn the work as an apprentice for agreed period of time, pay the required fee and the candidate will start to learn the work.
Within this period, EEYEF representative will be going from time to time to monitor the candidate and to ask in secret the relationship between the candidate and his/ her boss. After the agreed period, if the boss certifies that the candidate has actually known the job, EEYEF will empower the candidate with initial working tools to start on his own. When the candidates are established, they will follow to train subsequent applicants. It is when we shall increase the intakes of the candidates. Our target youth are both graduates and non graduate youths.

Our Aim/ Expected Goal
This is to make sure that within a few years, EEYEF shall make sure that the rate of unemployment is reduced and even be brought to zero. When at least, 80% of Nigerian youths are gainfully employed and has the capacity to employ others, the achievement of a crime free society will be actualized. There will be no manners of evil practices like violence, tuggery, touting, prostitution, kidnapping and other fraudulent activities.
OUR PROPOSAL
How do we achieve this?
Organizing a regular conferences, seminars and workshops about Youth Empowerments: It is distinct that regulars seminars and workshops about Youth Empowerments is needed to make sure that every body both parents and youths will have knowledge of Youth Empowerments. At the seminars and workshops, the participants would be enlightened and made them to know the dangers of not empowering our youths because they are the leaders of tomorrow, the social and economic implication on the Youth. The workshop will also educate the public that with Youth Empowerments, the rate of crimes will reduce. This is because once the youths are engaged in any meaningful job, they will not think of evil, rather they will create employments.
Through Awareness campaign: EEYEF have identified that regular information about Youth Empowerments should be made to the masses through the media, e.g. radio programs, television programs etc, and the language will be English and the local dialect of the people in which everybody would understand the message. EEYEF will from time to time make some posters and hand bills to inform people about the importance of Youth Empowerments and the dangers of idleness. Campaigning against youth violence, both in the homes and outside homes.
Tracing and Identifying Targeted Youths: EEYEF will identify the targeted youths in collaboration with the churches and religious bodies, local government, community heads/ traditional rulers. EEYEF will corporate with this agencies so as to make the Youths will understand that they are the leaders of tomorrow and the joy of their parents.
From our research, we discovered that about 80% of the Nigerian Youths have no good means of livelihood. They have no work, only dependent on their parents who in most cases have no good means of livelihood and other children to take care. It is base on this research that EEYEF is designing a means of assisting the Youths in Imo State of Nigeria to give them hope in life by training and empowering them to be useful to themselves and the society at large.
EEYEF has come up with the establishment Youth Empowerment Foundation. This foundation will train a good number of the youths, empower them and qualified them to be useful to themselves, their families, the nation and the world at large. Also to shun violence, tuggery, touting, prostitution, kidnapping and other fraudulent activities. All these will be at the expense of EEYEF.
How do we get the targeted Youths?
We can get the targeted youth to benefit from this project through the following means; thus through:

· the media (Radio/ TV announcements and News papers)
· churches and religious bodies.
· the Local Governments
· Village heads and traditional rulers
· Seminars and workshops

Empowering the beneficiaries

Going by the fact that what leads the youth to violence and illegal business is idleness and quest for a better livelihood. Where the youth cannot find any good thing to lay his or her hands on, they will likely result to follow evil/ bad direction. EEYEF is working on establishing these youths for a better tomorrow through this good initiative.
The skills the beneficiaries will learn are as follows:

· Hair Dressing = Hair Making, Platting of hair, manicure and Pedicure etc.
· Mechanic =Vulcanizing, Panel beating and painting, Car Furniture
· Auto Electrician and Battery Charging
· Wood Works = Furniture Making etc.
· Electrician= Repairs of air conditioners, refrigerators
· Welding
· Barbing
· Aluminum works
· Sowing (fashion designing)
· Making of Snacks
· Soap making
· Dying of cloths
· Making of hats
Please contact us for more information.

Yours Faithfully,

Emma Ekwonna (Founder)
